Children of the Sun. Ukrainian Folk Painting

This painting grew from my love for the warmth and joyful spirit of Ukrainian folk art. As I painted these two birds rising through a garden of glowing flowers, I kept thinking about sunlight — the kind that makes colors richer, flowers brighter, and the whole world feel alive. Their wings carry shades of gold, amber, and deep red, like feathers touched by the sun itself.

The composition is inspired by the flowing rhythm of traditional Petrykivka painting, a beloved Ukrainian folk art style known for its vibrant flowers, graceful movement, and celebration of nature.

In this garden, every blossom becomes a small sun, surrounding the birds with warmth and light.

In many folk traditions, birds symbolize freedom, renewal, and messages between earth and sky. To me, these two feel like joyful travelers moving through a sunlit garden that never fades — a place where nature, color, and light exist in harmony.

Children of the Sun is a celebration of warmth, optimism, and the beauty of nature expressed through Ukrainian Petrykivka folk art. This floral bird painting brings a feeling of joy and golden summer light into a space, like a small window into a garden where the sun is always shining.

The painting not framed.
